Registration of Domestically Produced Vitamin Tablet and Capsule-shaped Foods

Registration of Domestically Produced Vitamin Tablet and Capsule-shaped Foods

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced two directives concerning the registration of domestically produced vitamin tablet and capsule-shaped foods on February 12, and the abolishment of one announcement. The highlights of the three cases announced lie in the abolishment of the 2010 Notice for Registration of Domestically Produced Vitamin Tablet and Capsule-shaped Foods and Its Operation (amended in 2013). The original provisions are reformulated as the requirement that "domestically produced vitamin tablet and capsule-shaped foods shall be registered" and as the "relevant requirements for the registration of domestically produced vitamin tablet and capsule-shaped foods" so that the guidelines and provisions relating to the registration can be further clarified to facilitate the compliance of the operators. The current application methods are not changed, and relevant operations or procedures are not affected. The Ministry of Health and Welfare stresses that for domestically produced vitamin tablet and capsule foods which meet the requirements as announced and should be subject to registration, if the operators fail to apply for registration or to complete the registration procedure, a fine of NT$30,000 to NT$3,000,000 will be imposed for violation of Article 21 of the Food Safety Law in accordance with Article 47 of the law.
